Look at it this way, it was written by our forefathers not to keep religion out of government, but to keep government out of religion. |
How can I go to Heaven? |
It's not by saying a prayer, It's not by going to church, helping the poor, or being a good person. The only way to get to Heaven is by putting your trust in Jesus Christ. Why? Because He paid your entrance fee. Mohammed didn't. Buddah didn't, mother earth didn't. Only Jesus, and the price was His life. Why so high a price? Because we are permanently separated from God by our wickedness. All it takes is one little lie, one selfish motive, and we can no longer approach a Holy God. Jesus took on Himself all our wickedness and paid the penalty we would have been forced to pay on Judgement day. So what does it mean to trust in Jesus? Again, it doesn't mean saying a prayer, going to church, etc. It means you open your heart to Him, realize you are wicked, in desperate need of His help, humble yourself and repent, asking Him to save and forgive you, and then make Him Lord of your life: Learn about Him, spend time in His Word, talk with Him, get to know other Christians, and obey Him. In other words, Seek Him with all your heart. My biggest fear is that there will be many people on the day of Judgement who thought they were going to Heaven because they said a prayer, attended church, etc, but in reality they never knew God. Don't be one of those people that Jesus talks about in Matthew 7 where he says "Depart from me, I never knew you." |
If you really want to know what heaven is like, I highly recommend Randy Alcorn's book called, Heaven. It will make you want to go there right now |
Many people have trouble with a concept of Hell. Such a horrible place of torment for all eternity. Why would a loving God send anyone there? The truth of the matter is, God didn't create Hell for mankind. It was created for Satan and his angels. God doesn't want any human to go there. He longs for us to turn to Him and receive His free gift of salvation through his Son, Jesus. When someone refuses that gift, in essence, he is sending himself to Hell. He is rejecting God and therefore dooming himself to a place without God for all eternity. |
